Submission Guidelines
We model Kamusi workflows on established OED practices: evidence, structure, and review.
Core principles: structured data, evidence-based inclusion, transparent editorial review, and flexible data model for future APIs.
1) What to include in a submission
- Word and part of speech
- Proposed etymology with clear rationale
- Usage examples (at least one, preferably more)
- Sources/citations to verify usage and history
- Metadata tags (e.g., dialect, period, domain)
- Optional contributor details for recognition
2) Evidence requirements
Entries should be supported by multiple independent sources where possible. We assess breadth of usage over time rather than single, isolated mentions.
3) Editorial workflow
- Submitted → initial checks
- Under review → evidence appraisal, deduplication
- Verified → ready for publication
- Published → visible to all users
4) Data & interoperability
We use a flexible schema with tags and support for future APIs to integrate with external tools and editions.
Tips
- Prefer credible sources with clear dates.
- Include earlier attestations if known.
- Explain loans and morphological patterns.
- Tag dialect, period, and domain for discovery.
